Your membership ensures that our profession gets the representation it needs for a prosperous future.
FOR OVER 20 YEARS, the Washington Acupuncture and Oriental Medicine Association (WAOMA), formerly the AAW, has provided a vehicle for acupuncturists to work together.
Becoming A Member Of WAOMA Can Be Empowering! By joining, you become part of a statewide network of professional acupuncturists who are working together to forward the evolution of the acupuncture and Oriental medicine profession in Washington state. The membership dues provide crucial resources necessary to run the organization such as maintaining a lobbyist in Olympia, hiring an administrative assistant to answer the phone and email and putting into action many of the decisions and tasks voted on by the Board. Please join WAOMA today! We have made it easy and secure to do on line, or by downloading or calling our office for the paper application to mail in.
Have a voice in Olympia Our lobbyist Gail McGaffick helps us to keep watch over our profession, informing us as important legislation comes up. We work very hard to keep the overhead of running the organization down so that the majority of our financial resources can go support the work of our lobbyist and that is why membership is critical support. We must continue to defend our practice or it will be limited or encroached upon by other interests and professions who actually seek to include acupuncture under their scope after very limited training. We have successfully helped to defeat many threats to our profession over the years but only through the dedication and financial support of our members.
An Opportunity To Do Something About Your Concerns By becoming a member and getting involved you can learn about opportunities to serve your profession through committees and other specific efforts of WAOMA. Many of us have found that getting involved to be immeasurably rewarding to our lives and practices. Getting involved on a preliminary basis is also a great way for those exploring the prospects of becoming a board member to get their feet whet. Those who are active and involved show their dedication and ability to work with a team and are respectively the most likely to get nominated to run for the board as positions open annually. Membership gives you voting privileges at membership meetings and in annual WAOMA elections.
Patients Referred to Your Practice WAOMA receives many requests every week from prospective patients who want to be referred to an acupuncturist. We return calls and email to answer questions about acupuncture and refer patients directly to our members.
Receive Our Quarterly Newsletter Extraordinary Points (EP) Membership includes a subscription to "EP", our valued newsletter.
